Hey Beth, I think your site is fabulous! I like to buy the Starbucks Frappuccino's in those nice small glass bottles - I save them and re-fill them with my own made juice from home. In fact, I can make special concoctions from Pom pomegranate juice and orange juice or aloe vera straight juice (really inexpensive at Trader Joe's) and adding water for a flavored drink that is super healthy.

Wondering if the Trader Joe's "plastic" bags are all that good or if we should encourage TJ's to carry bags made in third world countries to support their economies as well as get away from "plastics"?

Keep up the good work - recycling is contagious!

Hey, here's an article from the New York Times about reusable versus plastic bags. Reusable bags are becoming high (and high-priced) fashion. According to the article, we throw away 100 billion bags a year, recycling only 1 percent. Wait, is that right? 300 million Americans -- that means over 300 a year apiece -- even babies? One almost every day? OK. I guess. But then, plenty of people must use fewer, so some people throw away two a day....ugh!!

And how many paper bags, I wonder?

I have two SIGG bottles, which are made from aluminum, so they're not heavy at all...they're much better than using plastic bottles.

According to the Container Recycling Institute, Americans consume approximately 28 billion water bottles each year. That's a staggering statistic I'd rather not contribute to.

And I second Rider's comment: www.reusablebags.com offers a great selection of bottles and other eco-friendly merchandise.

I love my Klean kanteen i carry it with me every day works great. reusable bags in chicago has good prices on them. I also carry with me a snow peak knife fork spoon set which I find lightweight and excellent as well.
