Gosh that's just such a contradiction! And I agree with justbec, I totally love the way you compose your letters. Assuming someone actually reads what you've written, I can't see how they wouldn't want to take action and change their ways.

Walking to breakfast on a very windy day Sunday, I passed an alley where boxes of shipping peanuts had broken open. What a mess. At least I hope the peanuts were the kind that break down in water.

The price of gas has turned the automotive world upside down almost overnight – with a rush toward smaller cars that are either partially or fully electric. Too bad there isn’t something that could turn the plastic craze around as quickly.

we used to sub to blockbuster online and they send DVDs the same way – plain disk in a Tyvek envie, no padding at all.

Organicneedle — I sometimes send things out in Styrofoam peanuts, because I keep a big box in the basement and chuck any packing materials I receive in it for reuse. Let’s hope Ecolution did the same and that wasn’t new Styrofoam! Of course, I only dip into my packing material stores when I’m sending stuff that might break. . .

I just wanted to thank you for posting these letters. I’ve never sent packaging back before, and I’m not sure if I’ll start, but if I do, I will definitely use your letters as a starting point. They are so polite and yet get the point across very nicely. Great job!

I have one better for you. I ordered this hemp rope made be Ecolution to see if it would work for the organic produce bags. The distributor sent it in a huge box packed with Styrofoam peanuts! I’m not exactly sure what perils could befall rope in transit, but it seemed a tad overprotective.

Holy carp! Why on earth did they send it with that much stuff?

Even Netflix, GreenCine and FilmConnection send in plain envelopes – no protection for the DVD at all.
