It’s been too long since I’ve been to this site. I have also tried to live nearly plastic-free for quite some time. One of the most frustrating things I have found is that so many reusable alternatives are still plastic based (e.g. water bottles; shopping totes) and I have pledged to help people understand and use alternatives that don’t upset their routines much. I have been posting your site all over my FB and then happened to find this post. Of course, I would love to see everything in your book. But congrats to whoever wins. So excited to receive my copy! If I should be lucky enough to win one, I’m donating it to my library; if not, I’ll buy another one for them! I’ve liked the Facebook page, plus posted a review on Amazon, and tomorrow I’m off to the local “eco” shops with my copy to encourage them to stock it!

I stumbled over to your blog while researching an organic cotton dress (Aventura) I’d found to sell on eBay. Needless to say, my eyes are open wider now. I thought I was doing a lot, that I was careful. My house isn’t full of plastic & matter-of-fact I can’t see any other than a small percentage of computer items I (seriously) can’t do without. My excuse? I sell online. I ship a lot of things each and every day. I recycle a lot of what I use for packing, but found was about to re-order “post consumer recycled plastic” bubble bags for shipping, without really thinking it thru and have now gone another route. Ahem.

Clearly I need (and want) to read your book. I’m heading to the library tomorrow and if it’s not there, the bookstore. I still would be happy to win. An extra copy, would go straight to the local lending shelf at the co-op!

I requested that my local library purchase your book. I wasn’t sure they would … but I just got notified that Plastic Free is waiting for me to pick up—yay! I haven’t bought any new hard plastic in almost 4 years—but still buying soft plastic food packaging, which is probably even *worse* for both my family and the planet. So I look forward to reading your book so I can take more steps to become free from plastic.

Do you know about the Washed Ashore: Plastics, Sea Life, and Art project [washedashore.org]? Located in Bandon, Oregon, they offer free community workshops where they build large art sculptures of marine life from plastic debris found on local beaches. The traveling exhibition encourages reducing, refusing, reusing, and recycling. I read about them in Sunset magazine.
