BillieRyder – Plastic Trash Eating Challenge – Week #5

BillieRyder – Plastic Trash Eating Challenge – Week #5

I stayed the same weight wise this week. Losing weight has never been easy for me so I didn’t expect great strides. In 5 weeks, I am down 2 lbs.

I thought I did a great job this week just as long as you don’t count the bits collected from outside the house.

Items: 15 itemsWeight: 3oz

The going out plastic:water bottlesoda container + straw and lid

The regular old house plastic:Plastic film from ice cream containerplastic sleeve from saltinesTLC cracker bag2 milk lids plus the zipperwindow from pasta boxlid from General Foods flavoured coffeeWerther’s Candy wrapperChamomile Herb teaThai Kitchen instant soup

BillieRyder – Plastic Trash Eating Challenge – Week #3

Lets just say that eating healthier is apparently not the key to losing weight. I am still at +1 pound. Although, you can buy junk food in bulk! And I am a bit *whimper* But please take pity on me. You haven’t seen me on a Friday night when I am desperate for anything and I keep repeating to myself – If you take some of those chips/pretzels/granola bars/chocolate bars you will have to add it to your plastic tally! It is very sad folks!

On to my items for the week:Items: 20 weight: 6oz … Read the rest

BillieRyder – Plastic Trash Eating Challenge – Week #2

BillieRyder – Plastic Trash Eating Challenge – Week #2

I spent another week recovering from the cold I got so I didn’t exercise. Could this be the reason why I GAINED a pound on my NO PLASTIC challenge?

Here is my plastic trash for week 2: Jun 13 – Jun 19

There were no recyclable items as we can only recycle bottles and they are pretty easy to stay away from.

I am going to divide the items into two categories. What I used during the week and what I used to celebrate my stepson’s birthday.

What I used for the week: Number of items: 6Weight: .25 oz (I guessed since it weighed so little it barely registered)

Saltine cracker wrapperMilk cap + plastic zipper from milk bottleSeasoning insert top from minced onion bottle1 foil candy wrappersaran wrap off partially used onion stored in fridge – disclaimer below

Man, I tried not to use that onion. I even used a newer onion in the hopes that my husband would use the rest of the onion in his cooking. When it became apparent that I use the onion or it go bad…… Read the rest

BillieRyder – Plastic Trash Eating Challenge – Week #1

Week#1 June 6 – Jun 12 2009

The entire purpose of my plastic tally is to improve my eating. This means that I didn’t save any plastic that didn’t deal with food – like my blister paks from Nyquil. So can I lose weight if I stay away from plastic? That is what I want to find out. This week I gained no weight which I thought was pretty amazing given how sick I was.

My name is Andria. I live with my husband and his children come to stay with us every weekend. My husband doesn’t believe in being environmentally friendly. In theory, some of the plastic is also used by other people in the household. For example, I wouldn’t go through so much wheat gluten if I was just making bread for myself. You get the idea. But any plastic that is JUST used by the other members is not in this list. That would be a significant amount. I make no attempt to reduce my husband’s consumption. Some of it is naturally reduced if I can get away with purchasing a non-plastic item but … Read the rest
