Let's see what plastic-free looks like in 2012... for the health of our bodies, our oceans, our planet. ~Beth Terry

Depends how gently you word it, as with anything. Last year I gave donations to several charities in my friends´names and made cards to give to them. I asked them to not give me anything, but if they felt so inclined, to do something similar. Without exception, they all were genuinely pleased, and several of them did the same. I think family & friends were relieved not to have to do any gift shopping for at least one less person, and honestly, there´s nothing I really needed or wanted that I couldn´t have gotten for myself. The only gifts I gave were some toys & clothes to the great-nephews. Wooden toys at that.

Hello - I just wrote this little post on my "mommy, crafty, greenish" blog

http://recyclingmama.squarespa.....tic.html

I write about why I care about plastic pollution and in writing it I ask: will it be OK to ask friends and family not to give us any plastic gifts or anything wrapped in plastic this season? Or would that be obnoxious and ungrateful?
