make things with glass beads and wire

paper ornaments (Norwegian woven hearts can be fun to make)

use cookie cutters to cut shapes from salt-dough (can use foil to get silver, paint or food dye for blue....)

use wool felt, or yarn to make ornaments (might be hard to get silver though)

try to buy glass or wooden ornaments at stores where they are displayed on trees separately rather than packaged up.

Here are some more ideas for packaging: http://plasticfreeguide.com/#packaging (If you're on a mobile device, you might have to scroll down the page to see the packaging section. It's number 70.)

bubble wrap = ? crumpled paper (would be cool to use old wrapping paper) or currogated cardboard; not as light weight would be fabric padding such as blankets, towels (make them part of the gift?)

Great ideas for wrapping! I would only add trying Furoshiki wrapping techniques, using materials you have or splurge and purchase holiday themed fabric.

  • New blue and silver decorations for both for the tree and dining table (These are the colors I started with years ago.)
  • New ideas for what to put cookies into for gifts
  • bubble wrap for mailing

I have some ideas for gift wrap but could use some additional. This is what I came up with so far

  • Cardboard boxes with buttons glued to the outside
  • brown paper (paper bag from grocery) decorated for the season
  • reused bags from previous years
  • cloth bags
  • pillowcases
