However, nowadays there is a lot of plastic that resembles cellophane, and which might even be called cellophane, that is actually plastic. The only way to know for sure if it's plant-based is if the package is labelled as such. Otherwise, you can pretty much assume it's plastic.

The Nori we get at Raley's is packaged in cellophane which is a plant based material as I recall.
