I have just started Beth Terry’s book and I’m hooked! My last read was a book called Boys Adrift (lately I’m researching a lot on how to raise kids … I might be a father someday after all!) that mentioned the hazards of plastic in contact with food especially on small children.
Then Beth starts reminding us about the huge environmental impact and it moved something within me. I live in Mexico and I had the exact same experience as she did when I tried using my reusable canvas bag on the supermarket a couple of years ago. I have to admit I sort of gave up.
I still use canvas bags in general but I seldom bring them to the supermarket. I’m resolved to start using them now as a first step and plan to go forward one step at a time! I always use reusable bottles at the gym… but these are also plastic! So this is step 2.
I realized then that there are not a lot of stores that held plastic-free options in Mexico and I couldn’t find many stores with international shipping either. Is someone on the forums also from abroad and can share their experiences getting plastic-free products shipped internationally?
The carbon footprint will be higher but I guess it’s a start!
