This is something I'm trying to find an alternative for too .. I don't eat them myself, but my son loves Organic Udon, and they're so convenient when I'm just having juice or salad for dinner but he wants a hot meal ..

I'll have to visit Rainbow on my lunch break some time. I really want those squiggly oily noodles that I've only found in those convenient individual wrappers. It's something from my high school and college days that's worth letting go of, but I will keep looking. Thanks!

Hi again. I just visited Rainbow today and bought buckwheat soba noodles from the bulk bin. They also had lo mein noodles. I didn't see ramen or udon. Honestly, I'm not an Asian noodle expert so don't know what the difference is. I do know I love soba. Cold. With soy sauce.

Annie have you checked at Rainbow Grocery in SF? They have a ton of different noodles so might have Ramen. Don't think Berkeley Bowl has it, but could check there also. When I'm craving cold soba noodles, I just go sit down at the Sushi Boat restaurant down the street from me. Of course, it's probably cheating because those noodles undoubtedly come packaged in plastic, albeit less of it because they probably buy big bags full.

We get our pasta almost entirely from the bulk bins, but what I have as yet been unable to find are asian noodles plastic-free. Ramen or udon -type noodles. We very rarely buy them as a result, but I miss them! I live in the East (SF) Bay, so if anyone has tips, that would be wonderful. (Oh, I probably won't be making my own noodles, alas.) Thanks!
