Of course!  I have been an addicted thrift shopper since the mid 1970s.  I have also made a nationally award winning coat out of post consumer plastic bags, as well as 2 other garments out of post consumer plastic trash. My designs are shown in art galleries and runway shows.  I CAN easily make and or wear synthetics, plastics...but I don't want to.

My question was for a new way...and not to wear synthetics or plastics at all. I know that historically, cloth was waxed...and much of this came from the Australian outback. Since we have been discussing waxed food cloths, and rainy autumn is approaching, I had thought to post idea to the group as to what ideas could we come up with if we did not want to wear synthetics/ plastics (thrifted or new) 

My question sounded stupid I guess, but I was actually looking for discussions on what folks are wearing and what solutions they come up with in.

There are tons of raincoats already in existence that could be used, you know? Also, look for products made out of recycled materials.

Gore-tex fabric is expensive (and its a synthetic).  Many waterproof items are made with nylon, polyester, and other  plastics.

Wondering what cost effective solutions for the rainy and snow season....as far as ponchos, raincoats, etc.  I worry that waxing a coat  will be way too heavy and not be able to breathe or move easily.   Any ideas for those living in soon-to-be-crazy weather like I do in the midwest?
