I'm working on soliciting donations from local companies (Richmond, VA) for our school's Spring Carnival that's sponsored by our PTA. I was thinking of putting together a few baskets, each with a different theme. What specific items do you think I should look into? Please keep in mind that this I'm in Richmond, Virginia and not San Francisco or Seattle.
From what I've seen at other auctions, themes are usually "spa" (moisturizers, bath salts, shower poof), "sports" (jerseys, tickets, equipment – if Richmond has a sports team, that would be good), "snack foods" (nuts, fruit, candies)… Virginia has a lot of coast, so maybe one could be beach themed (decorative shells, sun lotion, sunglasses, a cd of ocean sounds), seafood themed (the only thing I can think of is Bertha's Mussels, but that's Baltimore, maybe there's a local restaurant, or something?). Other things near Richmond that I can think of are the Naval ship yards, but I can't think of anything for those other than little models of carriers and subs, hardhats, and steel toes, and the last two just seem silly.
It sounds like fun, good luck :D
What about stainless steel water bottle, reusable bags, LaundryTree soapnuts, natural plastic-free soaps, produce/bulk bags, Skoy cloths, Organic Essence plastic-free body cream and lip balm, LunchBot containers, GlassDharma glass straws, Graze Organic lunch bags… I could go on. I have posts about all of these things. You could also check the new page I have been working on with links to product suppliers. Probably you could find some there that would be willing to donate: http://fakeplasticfish.com/pro…..suppliers/
