For personal info, see Lena’s Week 1 tally.
Total items: 13
Cream cheese container
club soda bottle
Take out container
mini candy/chocolate bar wrappings
plastic produce bag
What items can I replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Hm, I’m not sure if there’s anything different than from last week. I could buy canned or bottled club soda but that will be a lot of cans/bottles.
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
I could probably give up cream cheese and switch to Laughing Cow cheese (wrapped in foil and cardboard).
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
None of these.
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
I think I have to start shopping with the goal of not consuming plastic in mind. I also need to start actively looking for plastic free alternatives and not purchase a product if it is wrapped in plastic.
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Plastic take out containers.
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
I eat a lot of junk! I still think those mini candy/chocolate servings are terrible for the environment but I’m not sure there’s any way around it if you still want to give away candy to trick-or-treaters.
