I live in San Francisco with my 6 year old daughter and her two pet mice. I have a boyfriend who lives a few blocks away, and we have dinner together most nights. I work three jobs and run a side business doing seamstress and screen print work.
List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
I was trying to just live normally this week, since it’s my first week- so I only refused what I have been making a habit of refusing for some time now:
-used paper lunch bags for produce at whole foods instead of plastic bags
-brought my own grocery bags most of the time when shopping (SF has a no-plastic bag ordinance anyway though)
Total items collected: 29
big blueberry container #1
water bottle (no number listed)
guacamole container #1
(2) berry container lids #1
dish soap bottle #1
yogurt container #5
(3) Trader Joe’s Ravioli containers (no number listed)
Lots of bags (trying to get the BF to remember not to use them)
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
