1 vanish container
1 Spice Bottle Lid
1 Meat bag
[We have a plastic recycling station in our area, they say they take all plastics. I have not been able to find out what they do with the plastics that are not numbered.]
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Abit bummed that randomly I still have to take plastic packed meat at the butcher. It is hit and miss :( however, I am looking for a farmer that raises healthy animals that will sell directly to me :)
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
I’ve been growing lost of spices. But this lied was for a peppercorn mix, that I have now found in paper.
But I am and will be giving up the vanish. I bought a white couch last summer from a friend of a friend, she suggested it to help keep it white.. well it i did not help – so i have just been randomly adding it when i remember to things to get rid of it.. I will stick with my soapnuts!
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
I am going to be taking the summer off. We will be going on vacation with family and friends and staying with more family and friends. I am not going to be able to keep up with the waste in my luggage due to shortage of space. However, we will not be buying anything plastic ourselves… Ill return to the challenge after the summer (and after my house move!).
I also wanted to say that I have found a quick and healthy ice cream that you dont need a machine for. Just cut up some bananas, freeze them, and then puree them in a blender or with a hand belender. A spoon of coco or peanut butter is good for flavor too! I find this is great, i can whip this up in a mater of seconds! A great hold over until I get a ice cream machine.
