Plastic Challenge: Harumi, Week 1

2014-0113

Location:Bellevue, Washington, United States

Name: Harumi

Week: 1

Personal Info:

I live in a 2 -bedroom condo with my husband in Bellevue, Washington. (No kids, no pets…) We are taking this challenge together at home. We both work away from home, but in the same city. There’re Whole Foods, local vegetable stand in summer and food co-op grocery store nearby. While I was searching recycling sites, and other options for my own junk, I found this blog. Next day, I went to a library to borrow Beth’s book.

List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)

Plastic water bottle
Plastic shopping bags
Plastic utensils (but I have quite a few of them washed, unused at home and work.)

Total items collected: 34

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
Cooking own food at home, and bringing lunch

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
