Name: jennifer patrick

Week: 4

Personal Info:

Items: Nonrecyclable
plastic wine cork
plastic bread tie
2 plastic bandaids
2 toilet paper packages
stock portfolio packaging
plastic top of wine bottle
pita package

spaghetti package
Larabar package
2 bread packages

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
I could make my own bread, buy TP wrapped in paper, buy wine with real corks or screw caps

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
making bread (make time)

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
greens (spinach, etc) that come in plastic bags. I had celery on my shopping list this week and decided to forgo it because they were wrapped in plastic.

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?

Hi Jennifer.  There is a mobile website that lets you look up wines before you buy them to see if they have a real cork or a plastic one.  Check it out:  http://myplasticfreelife.com/2012/03/cant-tell-whether-a-wine-bottle-has-a-plastic-cork-or-real-cork-theres-an-app-for-that/
