List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
Plastic shopping bags
Plastic produce bags
Bottled water
Ice cream
Bread
Crackers
Cereal
Prepackaged things in plastic (I use bulk bins instead)
An ice cream bar at school (My class had an ice cream party but I didn’t have any. That was pretty hard…)

Total items collected: 16

Total weight:

Items: Recyclable
none

Items: Nonrecyclable
Old:
Cornstarch bag
Bread bag I was reusing that melted when I left it near the stove
New:
1 heavy cream ring
3 milk rings
3 plastic windows from pasta boxes
2 plastic seals from glass bottles
1 plastic seal from kombucha bottle
Plastic seal from bottle of ginger ale (It was the real deal. It was in a glass bottle and it actually had ginger in it, unlike the stuff in 7-11. Yum!)
Plastic tag from parsley
Wrapper from oatmeal raisin cookie (Never getting one of those again. It was nasty.)

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
I’m definitely never buying one of those cookies again. I’ll make my own next time. I’ll get parsley at the farmer’s market from now on to avoid the plastic tags.

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
Nothing this week.

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
Nothing

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
Not making impulse buys (like the plastic wrapped cookie)

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Store-bought cookies wrapped in plastic

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
