Take the challenge. Collect your plastic waste (both recyclable and non) for one week or more. Then photograph, tally, and post it here. What can we learn about our habits and lifestyles by examining our waste? And what changes can each of us make to leave the planet a little less trashy?

Actually I do read the flyers and ads that come in the advertising bag. I don't get a newspaper and the advertising flyers are more often than not from stores I shop at. The bag is usually printed with an ad from a home improvement store I sometimes shop at - generally if I find something I'm looking for from the bag ad. I shred the flyers for carbons and add them to my compost bin. The bag is repurposed for doggie duty.

Nice job!
I also have a suggestion regarding junk mail. We were being inundated with fliers and newspapers we never read, and while there was no plastic involved, I hated seeing all the paper go to waste. I put a sign on our mailbox saying no fliers or newspapers please, and they stopped. Why not give that a try!

Wow, you've really cut your plastic down from the last time you did the challenge. Kudos.

Here are some suggestions:

1) Mustard is super easy to make from scratch. And since you are such a crafty DIY girl...

2) I made a bunch of stickers that said, "Return to Sender! Please protect the environment. Stop sending unsolicited junk mail." Sometimes the mail would be sent back and sometimes it wouldn't depending on the mail rate that had been used. But it's worth a try. The stickers make it easier.
