Take the challenge. Collect your plastic waste (both recyclable and non) for one week or more. Then photograph, tally, and post it here. What can we learn about our habits and lifestyles by examining our waste? And what changes can each of us make to leave the planet a little less trashy?

As someone who lives with two cats, I understand your dilemmas. More than half of my plastic waste these days is directly related to cats. But now we have switched to SwheatScoop litter, which is made from wheat and comes in a paper bag. But if you like yours, please do write them. These companies need to hear from us!

My husband Michael loves Medjool dates. He gets them in bulk from Whole Foods. I don't know if they're organic because he's the one who buys them.

Since you're in San Francisco, Rainbow Grocery has brown sugar in bulk. Have you visited Rainbow? It's a bulk bin Mecca. Seriously.

This is my toilet paper solution:

I love your dream community. Have you read about Dancing Rabbit Eco Village? I would love to go out there and visit.
