Take the challenge. Collect your plastic waste (both recyclable and non) for one week or more. Then photograph, tally, and post it here. What can we learn about our habits and lifestyles by examining our waste? And what changes can each of us make to leave the planet a little less trashy?

Thank you!!! I shall check them out. Way cheaper. Well there´s no surprise, so often alternatives are.

Ha ha Kate, I understand how you feel, it is kinda weird. Especially as yesterday I saw Beth posts it on Facebook as well! Ahh, I´m there for all to see! But already it´s working & I´m finding more alternatives.

But no not for tomatoes or some other tins stuff.... No there isn´t any glass ones. The irony is I´m only buying local fresh tomatoes so not sure why I´m buying these, except for the fact we´ve made so many other food changes I really feel we need some variety. BUT. I am no longer going to return glass jars to the farmers market but keep them, I am teaming up with a friend who has land so I´ll grow my own & jar them -big life style change :-) So it will take a bit of time.

First of all, I admire you for showing your trash. I'm not there yet.
Second of all, I just wanted to say that I use the safety razor and even the same blades Beth recommended (actually, my husband uses it too) and we like it very much. We go through the blades more quickly (every 2 weeks or so) since there are two of us and he has really coarse hair, but it's still a much lower waste solution. Wayyyy cheaper too. That box of 100 blades was like 15 bucks or something.

Michelle, have you thought of getting a metal safety razor? Here's info about the razor I use and where I get the blades: http://myplasticfreelife.com/2007/08/plastic-free-shaving-part-1/ I bought a box of 100 blades and I actually expect them to last me forever if I take care of them.

Can you find tomatoes in a glass jar?
