Coconut oil is a good substitute in most recipes. The kind I usually buy comes in a glass jar with metal lid also. I use is sparingly, mostly because it is expensive and I bake a lot… too much…?

I have a follow up question. Earth Balance (a vegan margarine) can be purchased as sticks, and they are wrapped in a papery-foil wrapper. Do you happen to know if those kind of butter wrappers contain plastic?

Ours does not even have the outer plastic seal.

They have all kinds of cooking oils in bulk. Bring your containers.
