See my Week 1 post :)
Danielle’s personal blog: http://itstartswithme-danielle.blogspot.com
Total items: 12
1 dip container (#5)
1 sunblock tube
1 produce twist tie
7 caps/rings/pull tabs
1 Soy milk container
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Need to figure out how to make french onion dip without plastic. I’ve made it before, but takes sour cream (in plastic). I think I’ve said it before, but I need to do some research and come up with an alternative for when we do want it because the stuff we bought it junk/crap anyway.
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
I bought ranch in a glass jar, but was stuck with the plastic lid. Going to try to make a vegan ranch dressing with cashews. (fingers crossed)
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
Chipotle sauce (cap and spout) My kids love it in their quesadillas and quesadillas are something that (besides the chipotle sauce) I can make for a nearly plastic-free quick lunch that my kids rave over :)
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Not buying dip or ranch. I’d really like to make this a permanent thing. Working on it.
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
This week was a little different than the past weeks. We had A LOT of family come and stay with us… happy to share that the only items that I purchased in plastic while they were visiting was the milk. woot! :)
AND… we had a plastic-free party!!
