Take the challenge. Collect your plastic waste (both recyclable and non) for one week or more. Then photograph, tally, and post it here. What can we learn about our habits and lifestyles by examining our waste? And what changes can each of us make to leave the planet a little less trashy?

Well... here's some inspiration: I don't carry anything with me except my phone! No purse or keys! haha! ...well, I do have 3 kids ;) We've gotten very accustomed to not taking straws... it's so second nature to us that I often forget to take our glass straws when we go out. The other night, I decided to put them in a little canvas bag... I put my phone in the bag and VOILA! I remembered to take them in the restaurant! You CAN do this... I know you can!!!

Thanks Danielle! I think I find it easy at the grocery store when I actually see the bags (plus I have my own in my hand usually). Maybe if I buy one of the glass or stainless steel straws that are on the market I'll remember to bring it out. However, I usually just bring my keys, phone & wallet with me rather than a purse or bag.... sigh! I'll get there...

Kristin... requesting no straws is like requesting no plastic bags at the grocery store. It's simply a habit that you have to make happen. ;) To be honest, it's going to take you reminding yourself over and over again. It takes practice... but once you start doing it... I guarantee that it will become second nature. :)

Hmmm... you could set a reminder on your phone or ask the people you're dining with to remind you to request no straw.

Also, another thing that could help you is having your own straw. The ability to say "no thanks, I have my own" just might be the thing that you need. Check out www.glassdharma.com The straws are so awesome... and you can even get a little carrying case :)

So.. you forgot to request no straws for these past 14 weeks. I think you have to tell yourself that you're done with straws and make the next 14+ weeks straw-free!!

...hope some of that helps!! Best!! ~Danielle
