Take the challenge. Collect your plastic waste (both recyclable and non) for one week or more. Then photograph, tally, and post it here. What can we learn about our habits and lifestyles by examining our waste? And what changes can each of us make to leave the planet a little less trashy?

Oh, hmm. I didn't change anything in the recipe, and they held together pretty well. The vital wheat gluten seems to bind the mashed up beans and other ingredients. I usually bake them, rather than frying them. I flip them after some time (according to the directions). The first time I did it, they crumbled a bit when I flipped them. Now, I just turn them with a fork gently. It might be worth a try. They are a staple meal in our household. I hope they work for you!

By the way - I love your blog!

Hey Becca! Thanks for the suggestion! I actually do have Veganomicon and have made the bean balls before... taste is super yummy...but I have never been able to get them to hold together very well.... usually they end up kind of mushed in the sauce (a beany Bolognese sauce ;) ) ... do you have a tip for keeping them together??
