Total items: 7

Total weight:

Items: Recyclable
none

Items: Nonrecyclable
1 Plastic wrap (from canning jars)
1 pretzel bag
1 produce tie
1 milk jug cap
1 ring from milk cap
2 dog heartworm prevention

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Ok… I’m not sure if it’s easy, but I looked up how to make pretzel rods. Looking at the directions, it seemed like a lot of steps…but I supposed I’ll never know, if I never try!! I’m planning to try making them this winter.

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
This week of collecting plastic, I canned peaches. (not in October, I’m late posting this!) I had a box of unused jars from my husband’s grandmother… her jars came in a cardboard box… NO PLASTIC 🙂 … BUT… I didn’t have enough jars, so I had to buy some… all of the jars I found came wrapped in plastic!!! Was such a bummer!

*sigh* … at least my peaches are local and bpa free 😉 (there’s a bright-side to everything, right?)
