Personal Info:
Logan’s personal blog: http://www.blojewelry.com
List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
Plastic bags at the grocery. I usually buy a bottle of water (or two – almost every day) but this week I used my reusable water bottle more than I ever had.
Total items collected: 67
Total weight:
Items: Recyclable
38
Items: Nonrecyclable
Utensils, food containers, bags/food packaging, honey packets, flossing picks, trashbags, and Q-tips
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Food containers, bottles, utensils, and Q-tips.
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
I believe there are alternatives for all of them..
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
More planning. Not reaching for things out of convenience.
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Utensils. From now on I will carry a set of silverware in my bag.
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
Becoming plastic-free will be challenging, but not impossible :)

I make my own small trash bags from newspaper - one every couple of weeks is usually enough to handle the trash I can't compost/recycle. So simple, even a six-year-old can do it - and she does! http://retrohousewifegoesgreen.com/2010/01/no-more-plastic-bags-what-now/
Hi Logan. Welcome to the challenge! Here is an article I wrote about plastic trash bags: http://myplasticfreelife.com/2010/02/collecting-garbage-without-plastic-trash-bags/ But you should also check out this hilarious video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=oiThSyPHKAo
I have found chia seeds in the bulk bin of my local Whole Foods and just bring my own jar to buy them. I wonder if you could also find them in bulk?
Cheers!
