Take the challenge. Collect your plastic waste (both recyclable and non) for one week or more. Then photograph, tally, and post it here. What can we learn about our habits and lifestyles by examining our waste? And what changes can each of us make to leave the planet a little less trashy?

For nut milk I soak 100gram of nuts overnight (I especially love walnut) .. Strain the next morning and grind in a blender, then add 2 dates,1 teaspoon of vanilla bean paste (pureed vanilla beans), and 3 cups of water, then whiz for 2min and strain through muslin .. That makes a liter and takes only 5 minutes of my time :)

Homemade tofu is really hard, as I understand. I have found tofu in bulk in a couple of places where I live - a small Asian grocery and a non-chain natural foods store, so I can now bring my own container. You might check the same type options in Denver - gotta believe that progressive city's got similar options if my little town does.

Hi Paul. Welcome to the challenge! One suggestion I have is maybe trying making milks that require less time? For example, some things like cashew milk or hemp milk don't even have to be strained. You can drink them straight from the blender. (Although, I do think you need to at least soak the cashews first.)

This is the cat food we make for our cats. They love it: http://myplasticfreelife.com/2008/10/less-impact-cats-eat-homemade-food/
