Plastic Challenge: Jack & PennyCheney, Week 1

Plastic2

We discussed this and agreed on some steps we might take. No more input needed.

Location:, California, United States

Name: Jack & PennyCheney

Week: 1

Personal Info:

We have been married for 26 years, no kids, own our own house and are retired so we volunteer a lot. I have recycled way before it was fashionable. This was an assignment for our Docent class at Seymour Center.

Jack & PennyCheney’s personal blog:

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
plastic container for shrimp: could buy shrimp at meat counter and use dishes at home to serve this.

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
NONE

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
medicine bottles, safety packaging for bottles

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
none

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
none

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
Is 6-pack packaging gone from the stores? Haven’t seen much around. That’s very good. It was a pain to cut those things before putting them into the recycle.
