Location:Bellevue, Washington, United States
I live in a 2 -bedroom condo with my husband in Washington. (No kids, no pets…) We are taking this challenge together at home. We both work away from home, but in the same city.
List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
shopping bags, take out containers
Total items collected: 28
1 yogurt container #5 (lids, inner seals, also plastic)
1 chicken stock box (small inner seals, also plastic)
1 juice bottle #1 w/cap
1 orange juice box w/cap
15 food wrappers and bags (bars, pasta, salad, nuts, crackers, cheese…etc)
5 small bags (individual tea wrappers, lettuce tags)
1 medicine case
3 Plastic utensils (I have been kept them to scoop spices.)
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
I wish I could give up my prescription drug.
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
Buying bulk food, cooking at home, and bringing own lunch/snack to work.
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
