List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
A plastic bag at a restaurant for my doggie bag. Another plastic bag at an autoparts store. A plastic fork at work (I keep a set of bamboo utensils in my desk)
Total items collected: 37
Bruschetta sauce tubs
Feta cheese tubs
TV dinner trays
Some plastic bags
chewing gum container
Plastic air bags from Amazon
Tops from take-out coffee
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Food items that can be bought in bulk
Veggie bags at supermarket
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
buy in bulk, request Amazon use less wrapping, not order from Amazon, return plastic fruit containers to farmers market, take string bags to supermarket for buying veggies
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
plastic bags for vegetables
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
Plastics are much more prevalent in our lives than I thought. It’s depressing! And I’m more reluctant to significantly change my lifestyle than I thought I would be. But I’ll try!
