I am a second year at UC Santa Cruz. I live in a single this year on campus. I am in the Seymour center docent class and wanted to find out how much plastic I use on a weekly basis.
List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
plastic containers for food
plastic bags from grocery store
Total items collected: 10
Cup a noodle container
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
I could easily have replaced the plastic spoons with metal spoons.
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
defiantly the plastic spoons
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
my contact cases
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
do not buy food with a lot of plastic packaging
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
I think it was easier not to use so much plastic living on a campus dorm because the food is prepared for you and you do not need to buy a lot of food with plastic packaging.
