I am reading the book My Plastic Free Life I borrowed from Chris Reeves and I am learning a lot from the book.
Location:Aptos, California, United States
Name: Robin Rush
Single, Female, 49. Two children 17 & 20. I only tracked the plastic that I used during the week.
List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
Single use containers, such as yogurt.
I bought glass bottled beverages instead of plastic.
Total items collected: 12
Total weight: less than a pound
None of my items are recyclable.
shreded cheese pouch
4 wrappers from Odwalla protein bars
5 plastic vegtable bags (I wont be using those anymore).
1 plastic pouch lettuce came in.
1 plastic pouch from trail mix.
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Stop using plastic vegetable bags. Im going to buy a mesh re-usable bag for veggies.
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
Trail mix pouch
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
Buy cheese in bulk and shred it myself.
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Plastic vegtable bags
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
I didnt realize I used so many plastic items that were one-time usage like the vegtable bags.
