Plastic Challenge: Kristin, Week 20

Of the humongous amount of strawberries I bought yesterday, a large portion were frozen in big Ziploc freezer bags I already had in the house. I know that freezing in canning jars IS okay, but for strawberries that I’ll grab a handful at a time for smoothies, I’m not sure this would be the best method. I also freeze a lot of stuff in tupperware-like containers, but I surely don’t own enough of them to have handled this volume of berries. Any thoughts?

Plastic Challenge: Kristin, Week 14

I have yet to remember (in 14+ weeks) to ask for no straw when dining out. I have no idea why…. any tips?

Annoying amazon.ca packing pillows: I had full intentions of commenting on my order for no plastic packaging to be included, but totally forgot at the last minute. Does anyone know if they can substitute a paper product?

Plastic Challenge: Kristin, Week 12

This week I take full responsibility for all of my items. I know better. Between a 24 hour notice camping trip (that resulted in a LOT of packaged foods & other items) and not having time to do the other things (like baking) that I had intended to do this week it’s just been a giant disaster 🙁 As the season is working it’s way towards warmer days, I need to focus on remaining vigilant & dedicated to limiting my plastic and not frittering away this finite oil based “resource” on summer whims.

Next week we’re buying some grass seed & potting soil etc which I suspect I wont be able to find “unbagged”. Any suggestions? I’ll check out our greenhouse before I go to Home Depot, but there aren’t many resources in our small city.
