I was hoping that my reasonably successful efforts to reduce the garbage my family and I send to land fill via our curb side pickup might get noticed by neighbours and generate some positive influence. But it seems that while it has been noticed it is only as an opportunity to put their garbage overflow onto our curb.In my Ontario town we have a 4-bag limit for “black” garbage which is collected every 2 weeks…we seldom have anywhere near that for our 4 person family any more. I was probably too obliging when asked the odd time in the past to take a neighbour’s extra garbage (“it’s ok, we only have 1 bag this time!”) so now they don’t even ask anymore. I know this isn’t a manners column so I will get back to the trash part of the issue. I am now enabling people to create even more waste by letting them do this!!!! Should I put a note on my bin asking them to stop or at least ask me about my trash-free tips? Am I a pushover? – garbage dump girl
