Just finished “Plastic Free” and am committed to moving towards a more plastic free life. My landscaper is recommending this “Frame it All,” made from 60% recycled polypropylene and 40% from a sustainable wood flour,
After reading “Plastic Free,” I know there is a limited market for recycled plastics so on one hand I like that this product offers a use for recycled plastics BUT, when we are done with it (10+ years?), I know it won’t be able to be recycled.
Personally, I would stay away from it. First, the plastic lumber is going to release plastic particles into the environment as it breaks down. And second, as you mentioned, it’s going to end up in the landfill at the end of its life anyway, since that stuff doesn’t get recycled. If it were me, I would go for Forest Stewardship Council certified wood.
