'Biodegradable' Plastic Site
November 18, 2013 - 7:48 pm

Dear Beth and friends,

My son and his girlfriend went to a shop here in Seville that specialises in American products and brought back some items in a ‘biodegradable’ plastic bag [Image Can Not Be Found]. I’m skeptical and want to send an email to the shop asking them to stop using the bags, but I need help explaining why they are not as environmentally friendly as the manufacturer claims.

Could you check it out and help me, please?

One thing that really bothers me is that this company claims on their site that there is ‘no need to ban plastic’, thanks to their technology.

Thanks so much.

I actually wrote about this very brand of “biodegradable” bag on my blog a while back. Here is the post. I hope this helps: /2008/01/bittersweet-symphony-called-d2w/
