Hi there I love using an old (recycling at it’s best) tights. You cut them across whatever width you want – 4 inches is a good size. the you can make a ponnytail or little bun…the best part is no headaches!

My grandfather used to use and old inner tube cut across for making his own elastic bands….

I have cut the elastic tops off of socks as well for pony tail holders and for making buns. (Learned about this in the military.)
