Plastic-Free Travels

I’ve been travelling a lot lately and I’m finding I’m getting pretty bummed out when I have to say no to things I really want like smoothies, cocktails and other places that only have single-use options. I’ve treated myself a few times but say no to lids and straws but People look at me like I’m nuts. Anyone have advice to give or experience with bringing their own to-go cups to places that aren’t for coffee or tea? I’m finding it especially difficult in non-English speaking countries.
