I use a pumice stone. I’ve had it so long, I can’t remember where I bought it. Probably at a hardware store.
For me, going plastic free means getting over my squeamishness to germs.
I use the pumice stone on tough stains and my hand in the water with a rag. An old toothbrush works well for some areas too.
I know a lot of people would think it “gross”, how I clean the toilet, but I assure you I’m quite clean. :-). I find brushes dirtier, because they may hold onto the germs after use. I wash my hands after, toss the rags in the wash and let pumice stone dry in the sun.
Anyway, that is my suggestion. Due to a child with developmental disability, we went chemical free/ plastic free/ organic years ago. Every day gets easier as new alternatives are available and people are more accepting of our lifestyle.
I hope this helps.
Katie, does it have to be that particular brush. Life Without Plastic has a different one. It’s not coconut coir, but it is made from natural fibers with a wood handle:
Michel, that’s how our monthly house cleaners do it. We use an eco-friendly coop cleaning company called Natural Home Cleaning Services.
‘Michel said I use a pumice stone. I’ve had it so long, I can’t remember where I bought it. Probably at a hardware store. ‘
I have used a plain pumice stone on my heels to keep the skin smooth, and another plain pumice stone on the toilet water ring for decades (we have hard water). Got both at CVS (Longs at the time). Have seen them at most hardware, drug stores.
great products at this company.
