Plastic Challenge: Ellen Simpson, Week 5

Plastic Challenge: Ellen Simpson, Week 5

I am wondering whether there is plastic in two items I have this week. One is butcher paper from Whole Foods. This doesn’t seem to have any plastic in it. I can rip it easily, and I don’t see the thin bit of stretchy plastic that you can see in some plastic-coated paper. I included it in my tally, but I am really thinking there is no plastic in there.

The other item is a Hood buttermilk carton. I really dissected that thing, and again, couldn’t find the thin stretchy layer of plastic. I didn’t include this carton in the plastic tally, because there just didn’t seem to be any plastic.

Plastic Challenge: Ellen Simpson, Week 3

Plastic Challenge: Ellen Simpson, Week 3

Is it possible to buy canola oil in glass jars? I only found it in plastic at my grocery store. I needed it right away for a recipe, so I purchased it in plastic, but I’m thinking it should be available somewhere in glass.

I was able to find olive oil in glass no problem, as well as vegetable oil, but not canola oil. I guess another question might be, can I substitute vegetable oil for canola oil?

Amy: Week 1

Amy: Week 1

I did not collect all my plastic.  Though it makes for a great picture, and I love the visual Beth presents each week, I refused to wash it all and collect it. Instead, I thought about it on and off all week, especially when I chucked things in the trash that could be recycled if I made the effort. Here’s is all of the plastic discarded May 11 to 17. I had a head cold, so there is a LOT of cold meds listed.
