What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?

Condiment cup — we could have asked them to just put the condiments directly on the plate. Two of the three cups were actually ceramic, so I think they ran out of clean ceramic cups.

We can do without almost all the old plastics. In a way, we can’t wait until we rid our cupboards of old plastic foods like the mac and cheese packet and the noodle wrapper, but we knows it doesn’t just “go away” of course.

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?

Instant foods, like mac and cheese or inidividual packets of noodles.

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?

Bag for kitty litter. When we run out our stash, we are going to rescue some plastic bags from our labs that are destined for the garbage and reuse them before throwing them away.  It’s still not the most ideal option, but it is better than making a trip to the grocery store intentionally without bags just to restock on kitty litter bags.

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?

We have to learn how to ask for no plastic at restaurants all the time even if we think there will be no plastics.  A lot of our new plastics come from eating out.  We should also probably eat out less, but it’s a nice way to catch up with friends.

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Instant foods
