List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
Plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic-coated cups with plastic lids, and so much more!
Total items collected: 6
Total weight: .2 ounces
Items: Recyclable
1) Expired bank card. Earthworks systems collects used gift cards to recycle. I’m not sure if they will accept expired credit cards or not. There could be fraud issues. http://www.earthworkssystem.com/index.html
Items: Nonrecyclable
2-3) Two plastic envelope windows. Read about what plastic envelope windows are made of here: /2009/04/year-2-week-42-results-05-oz-of-plastic/
4) Window from a cardboard compact fluorescent light bulb package
5-6) Stickers from a box of Lush Toothy Tabs, my alternative to toothpaste in a plastic tube: /2011/08/searching-for-the-perfect-all-natural-plastic-free-toothpaste-or-powder-or-soap-or/

When I contacted earthworks they said you can cut up cards into as many pieces as you want – I think I’m going to save up cards (maybe collect from people at work too), so small pieces of multiple cards wouldn’t be able to be pieced together.
