Plastic Challenge: CECILIA VILLALOBOS, Week 1


Where could I consume grocery with less or no plastic? But is it affordable to my family?

Personal Info:

I am a mother to a two year old boy and live with my husband. I work as a caregiver provider. I attend Los Medanos College.

List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
I refused snacks that have plastic covered, like chips, peanuts, and etc.

Items: Recyclable
Water bottles/glass refreshments/cardboard snacks-(cheez-it)/diaper cardboard box

Items: Nonrecyclable
pedialyte bottle, the plastic inside the cereal box, the plastic inside that covers the diapers, the plastic inside that crackers box, the nido forumla can.

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
crackers, and cereal

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
junky snacks, starbucks coffee

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
diapers, pedialyte, formula

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
eat healthy go to farmers market for grocery

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
chips and junky snacks

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
