Blog: It Starts With Me
Total items: 9
Total weight: 2.7 oz
Items: Recyclable
1 Strawberry container (#1) <—though I won’t be recycling it.
Items: Nonrecyclable
3 milk jug caps (from reusable glass bottles)
1 ring from milk jug cap
2 graham cracker packages
1 Gardein package
1 lid (from Mayo)
What items can I replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
I make graham crackers. (These wrappers are a continuation of what I bought for camping.)
Strawberries– I need to call my CSA and see about being able to return the container or getting my strawberries sans plastic.
Mayonnaise
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
?
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
Right now, milk in glass bottles.
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
Don’t give into convenience.
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Since I’m behind in my posting… in the middle of making egg salad sandwiches for lunch….I forgot that I didn’t buy new mayo and ended up having to make my own!! Easiest thing in the world!! I don’t know why I’ve been buying pre-made mayo for all these years!! So… check mayo off my list… I’m NEVER buying it again!!! 😀
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
Hmmm…. there’s a huge reward to not using plastics. It may be more work… but it’s well worth the effort 🙂
