Total items: 13

Total weight:

Items: Recyclable
1 Ketchup bottle (#1)
1 grape bag (#4)

Items: Nonrecyclable
1 gardein package
1 gimmie lean veggie sausage
5 caps/rings (glass milk jugs)
2 produce ties
2 plastic (??) from new cellphone* (There is probably more than this…but this is all that I have from the store. Did the store trash some plastic when they set up my phone?? Most likely, but not sure.)

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
Ketchup! This bottle was from my aunt when she came to visit in June. We finished it and I didn’t buy any new ketchup!!! I recently made ketchup and am going to work on figuring out a recipe that is comparable to our favorite “Annie’s Organic”.

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
We buy the sausage very rarely. Once every 6-9 months (I think??)… so I would have no problem giving it up.

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
My cellphone bit the dust… there was no saving it… so I had to get a new one (we don’t have a landline anymore).

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
For this week, my husband and oldest son were out of town. Normally, when they would be gone, I would rely more on convenience foods. BUT… I didn’t! Very happy with this weeks tally. 🙂
