Total items: 9

Total weight: 116 grams / 4 ounces

Items: Recyclable
2 Diam Candy Bar wrappers
1 organic spaghetti package
1 Super Chips bag
1 Apple & Rhubarb Ice Cream Container
1 Licorice Ice Cream Lid
2 Popcorn kernels packages
1 hair mud case

Items: Nonrecyclable
[We have a plastic recycling station in our area, they say they take all plastics. I have not been able to find out what they do with the plastics that are not numbered.]

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
The hair mud, even though we only use one of these per year. I have made a test batch, but Ole (boyfriend) is not for sure yet and has got another ‘real’ one for now. Any hair mud styling recipes, needs to hold well and not be shiny.

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
Chips. Also, popcorn kernels. We do not have bulk bins in Norway (ok we do, but they only have candy and nuts in them).

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
We will definitely not be getting the licorice ice cream again. haha, that was the worst stuff ever.

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
It is getting to be rather interesting to see that really the only ‘trash’ we have in our tally is ‘junk’ food. Our ice cream consumption goes way down in the winter, but now in the summer we eat it almost daily to cool off. But as I have said before, I will start making that. As for the chips, at this point I do not plan to make them – but can see we need to slow down with them.
