Location:Thornhill, Ontario, Canada

Name: Sabrina B

Week: 6

Personal Info:

Sabrina B’s personal blog:

Total items: 9

Total weight:

Items: Recyclable
3 window envelopes

Items: Nonrecyclable
burger bun bag
energy bar wrapper
cookie wrapper sleeve
plastic wrap
chocolate wrapper
expired credit card

What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
cookies and chocolate! I have a serious sweet tooth!

What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
none this week – sorry!

What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
Credit and debit cards are pretty essential. It’s good for everyone to have at least 1 card to build good credit. Why does a credit card have to expire anyways? Milk expires, why does plastic expire???? I am calling Visa to get to the bottom of this!!!
Credit cards should not have en expiry date. They can simply be replaced when they are damaged. Also, every time Visa sends me a new card, it comes in an envelope WITH A WINDOW!!!

What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
Curb my chocolate cravings by bringing homemade energy bars on the go with me.

What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
I would like to give up window envelopes and cookies, but I seriously don’t think that’s going to happen…

What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
A bonus of doing this challenge is getting to see how many junk items I am eating per week. It’s really made me conscious of the sweets I am eating and the evidence that I can’t hide because the packaging is made of plastic – yikes!

I better start making some homemade sweets that I can save in tins and leave no trail :)
