I am an 18 year old female. I went home for thanksgiving and this was only my trash for the week.
List of plastic items REFUSED this week. (Yay!)
-I tried to refuse plastic bottles by getting stainless steal bottle to fill water in.
-Also go to grocery store with my own bags.
Total items collected: 20
plastic cvs bag, plastic bag from planet beauty, two mascara packages, one false lash package, 6 water bottles, popcorn bag, cotton ball bag, lid and straw for drink, two plastic containers for food, lunchable, clinic jar
the two mascara packages I am unsure of because in addition to plastic they have cardboard. I am unsure if this cardboard is for sure recycleable
What items can I easily replace with plastic free or less plastic alternatives?
I could switch plastic bottles to a glass bottle, and replace plastic bags with my own reusable bags.
What items would I be willing to give up if a plastic free alternative doesn’t exist?
Certain food places I eat it. It in’t essential I eat there.
What items are essential and seem to have no plastic-free alternative?
My clinic products. A lot of them are in plastic packaging. I may consider switching if I found something as good as clinic.
What lifestyle change(s) might be necessary to reduce my plastic consumption?
I may need to shop at stores that don’t use plastic packaging. Find alternatives to a lot of the food buy. Lastly, stop getting plastic bottles.
What one plastic item am I willing to give up or replace this week?
Plastic water bottle.
What other conclusions, if any, can I draw?
